CHN Energy Grid-Connects 1 GW PV Project in Xinjiang

Major Chinese energy developer CHN Energy has completed full-capacity grid connection of a 1 GW solar PV project in Xinjiang through one of its subsidiaries.

The project serves as a supporting facility for the Hejing pumped-storage power station and comprises three sites in Hejing (150 MW), Yanqi (250 MW), and Bohu (600 MW), together with a 167.5 MW/335 MWh energy storage system (ESS). It is expected to generate around 1.8 billion kWh of electricity annually.

The project has an integrated 'hydro-wind-solar-storage' structure designed to strengthen peak-shaving capability and improve renewable energy integration across the southern Xinjiang power grid.

CHN Energy has commenced operations at its Shanxi Renewable Energy Trading Center, the group's first regional renewable energy trading platform (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

CGN Connects 200 MW Offshore PV Project Co-located with Nuclear Plant

Nuclear and renewable energy developer China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) has completed full-capacity grid connection of its 200 MW offshore solar project in Ningde, Fujian Province.

Built within the water area of the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, the project is CGN's first offshore PV project co-located with a nuclear power plant. It includes a 20 MW/40 MWh ESS and is expected to generate around 300 million kWh of electricity annually.

CGN said the project also serves as a demonstration platform for offshore PV foundation and mounting technologies. The use of large-diameter concrete pipe piles and a lightweight mounting system improved corrosion resistance while reducing piling and mounting costs by more than 10%.

Last month, CGN started construction on its 350 MW concentrated CSP demonstration project in Golmud, Qinghai Province (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

TCL Solar Advances 14 GW BC Cell Upgrade Through DAS Solar

Leading PV wafer manufacturer TCL Solar (previously TCL TZE) is advancing its transition to back-contact (BC) technology following government approval for a 14 GW BC cell production line upgrade at DAS Solar, which TCL Solar recently acquired.

The RMB 1.18 billion project will be carried out between July 2026 and July 2027, replacing legacy production equipment with advanced automated manufacturing, ALD passivation, and testing systems.

The project follows TCL Solar's July announcement to invest RMB 2.6 billion to convert 20 GW of cell capacity and 25 GW of module capacity to BC technology (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

INF-ENERGY Signs 25 GWh Battery Cell Supply Agreement

Energy storage solution provider INF-ENERGY has signed a long-term framework agreement with Jiayang Energy to supply 25 GWh of battery cells between 2026 and 2028.

The contract covers 20 GWh of 314 Ah cells and 5 GWh of 587 Ah cells. Deliveries will begin in 2026 with 10 GWh of 314 Ah cells to support Jiayang Energy's grid-connected storage projects, including a 1 GW/4 GWh energy storage project in Yanchi.

The agreement builds on the companies' earlier collaboration on the operational Miaoling 1 GW/2 GWh shared energy storage project in Ningxia.

Sino-Platinum Metals to Build PV Module Recycling Base

Precious metals producer and recycler Sino-Platinum Metals will invest RMB 103.98 million through a wholly owned subsidiary to build a pilot PV module recycling facility in Yuxi, Yunnan Province.

The project will have an annual processing capacity of 15,000 tonnes of retired PV modules and 5,000 tonnes of externally sourced solar cells. It will recover valuable materials, including silver, while establishing a recycling chain covering module dismantling, precious metal recovery, and by-product sales.

The company said its silver extraction technology has completed kilogram-scale pilot validation using technology developed by its subsidiary.
