Huawei Digital Power receives VDE’s 1st Battery Passport certification

Huawei Digital Power has announced that the battery passport pre-compliance data for its grid-forming energy storage system, the LUNA2000 series, has successfully passed evaluation by VDE Renewables. The assessment resulted in the ‘world’s first’ Battery Passport pre-compliance data assessment certification issued by VDE.

The company states that the certification is prepared in accordance with the European Union’s Battery Regulation specifications for the Battery Passport, which will officially take effect on February 18, 2027. Under the regulation, battery products entering the EU market will be required to establish a full life-cycle digital record covering key indicators such as raw material sourcing, manufacturing processes, performance and safety, carbon footprint, and recycling.

Recently, Huawei Digital Power completed a fire test for its grid-forming, liquid-cooled C&I energy storage solution, witnessed by TÜV Rheinland (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

HANGZHOU FIRST provides updates on funded projects

Leading PV encapsulant film manufacturer HANGZHOU FIRST disclosed progress on a number of projects funded through previously raised capital. In 2022, the company raised a total of RMB 3.03 billion through the public issuance of convertible bonds to support the construction of 10 facilities, including PV encapsulant film plants with an annual capacity of 250 million m² each in Guangdong, Hangzhou (Zhejiang), Vietnam, and Thailand.

According to the latest update, the encapsulant film facilities in Vietnam and Thailand have met the completion criteria, while the Guangdong PV film factory is progressing as planned. The company has decided to delay the construction schedule for the 250 million m² Hangzhou plant, given the slowdown in domestic demand growth and the prioritization of procurement from overseas production capacity by overseas customers. The planned commissioning date for this facility has been postponed from the end of 2025 to the end of 2026.

In November, HANGZHOU FIRST reported a 48.29% year-over-year profit decline for the first 9 months of 2025 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Qinghai releases mechanism-based electricity prices for 25.32 GW of RE projects

Qinghai Province has released a list of mechanism-based electricity prices covering 25.32 GW of renewable energy projects. Unlike previously announced projects selected through competitive bidding, this batch consists of existing projects commissioned before June 1, 2025, as well as projects with special attributes such as poverty-alleviation or concession-based projects, all of which will adopt government-designated prices.

The 25.32 GW portfolio includes 20.86 GW of solar PV projects. Among them, 20.85 GW will uniformly apply a mechanism-based price of RMB 0.2277/kWh, while the remaining 150 MW of ‘Golden Sun’ projects will apply a price of RMB 0.3127/kWh. In addition, 2.86 GW of wind power projects will adopt a uniform price of RMB 0.2277/kWh, and 1.6 GW of CSP projects will apply prices ranging from RMB 0.3247 to RMB 0.86/kWh.

Previously, the province had completed 2 rounds of mechanism-based price bidding, with solar PV prices set at RMB 0.24/kWh and RMB 0.227/kWh, respectively.

Hubei’s 1st round of solar mechanism-based price bidding settles at RMB 0.333/kWh

Hubei Province has announced the results of its 2026 mechanism-based electricity price bidding for renewable energy projects. The bidding was open to projects scheduled to reach full-capacity commissioning between June 1, 2025, and December 31, 2026. A total of 20,541 projects were selected.

Of the total, 20,520 were solar PV projects, securing a total mechanism-based electricity volume of 488,361.054 MWh at a price of RMB 0.333 per kWh. The remaining 21 projects were wind power projects, which obtained a mechanism-based electricity volume of 1.08 million MWh at a price of RMB 0.387 per kWh. All selected projects will apply the awarded mechanism-based electricity prices for a period of 12 years.
