LONGi Sets 35.5% Silicon-Perovskite Tandem Cell Efficiency Record

Leading solar manufacturer LONGi has achieved 35.5% conversion efficiency for its independently developed crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell, which has been certified by the European Solar Test Installation (ESTI). The result surpasses the company's previous 35.2% record for a 2-terminal crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cell and sets a new world record for the technology.

The company also reported tandem cell efficiencies of 34.3% on a 261 cm² device and 32.2% on a 274 cm² device, both approaching industrial-scale dimensions.

At the module level, LONGi achieved a conversion efficiency of 31.4% for a 1,650.4 cm² crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem module and 29.4% for a larger 16,766 cm² module. Both results were included in the Solar Cell Efficiency Tables: Version 68, published in May 2026.

Last month, JinkoSolar announced that its independently developed n-type TOPCon-perovskite tandem solar cell achieved a conversion efficiency of 34.82% (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Construction Begins on SKYWORTH Solar’s 300 MW/600 MWh Energy Storage Project

Solar solution provider SKYWORTH Solar has started construction of a 300 MW/600 MWh standalone energy storage power station in the Jinzhong Development Zone of Shanxi Province.

The project is being developed by SKYWORTH Solar, part of the home appliance giant SKYWORTH Group, together with partners including POWERCHINA under a financing and EPC agency construction model. Once completed, the facility will connect to the Shanxi power grid, providing peak shaving services, improving grid stability, and supporting higher renewable energy integration.

SKYWORTH Solar said it aims to develop the project as a benchmark for the energy storage sector. The company currently has an energy storage project pipeline exceeding 12.5 GWh.

In June, Skyworth PV signed a cooperation agreement with Joybuy to jointly promote balcony PV products in overseas markets (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Shanxi RiShengda Launches Perovskite Module Substrate Glass Project

Solar glass manufacturer Shanxi RiShengda New Energy has started a RMB 110 million technical upgrade project at its Changzhi production base.

The project will upgrade the existing 500-ton melting furnace and production lines from a ‘one furnace, four lines’ configuration to a ‘one furnace, two lines’ dual-process production model.

One production line will continue manufacturing ultra-clear rolled glass, while the second will produce substrate glass for perovskite modules together with a 100 MW integrated perovskite thin-film solar cell system.

SunFlex Partners with Nayuta Space on Rollable Perovskite Solar Sail

Perovskite manufacturer SunFlex has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with aerospace company Nayuta Space to jointly develop a 400 m² rollable flexible perovskite solar sail for satellites.

The companies said the project is the first of its kind in China. SunFlex will provide its ultralight flexible perovskite technology and aerospace-grade encapsulation to enable operation under extreme space temperature conditions.

The solar sail is designed to deliver more than 120 kW of power for Nayuta Space's computing satellite, supporting its 80 kW onboard computing system and addressing power supply requirements for commercial computing satellites.

SunFlex’s flexible perovskite solar cell production line in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province, entered trial production earlier this year (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China Releases 2026-2028 Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Plan

China's National Energy Administration (NEA) has released the Energy Sector Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Action Plan (2026-2028), targeting an average annual increase of around 1 percentage point in the share of non-fossil energy consumption by 2028.

The plan supports PV deployment in coal mining subsidence areas, oil and gas fields, industrial parks, transportation infrastructure, and buildings. It also promotes green industrial microgrids integrating PV, wind power, energy storage, hydrogen, and smart energy management systems, while encouraging pilot BIPV projects.

The plan also calls for improving renewable energy consumption targets, grid absorption responsibility mechanisms, and green certificate and green power trading systems. It supports large-scale deployment of new energy storage, development of long-duration storage technologies, expansion of inter-provincial renewable electricity trading, and upgrades to distribution grids and smart microgrids to support green power direct supply, source-grid-load-storage integration, and local renewable energy consumption.
