Trinasolar develops ‘world's 1st’ 800 W tandem module

Leading integrated solar PV manufacturer Trinasolar has announced that its National Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology has developed the ‘world's first’ industrial-standard solar PV module with a power output of over 800 W. The 210 mm large-size perovskite/crystalline silicon 2-terminal tandem cell module (3.1 m²) achieved a TÜV SÜD certified peak power output of 808 W, which the company says is a new world record. Trinasolar attributed this breakthrough to advancements such as perovskite bulk doping, interface engineering, and composite layer structure design. Trinasolar claims to have filed 331 patents related to perovskite tandem technology to date.

On the storage side, Trinasolar signed a technology cooperation agreement with Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) to advance AI-based energy storage solutions last month (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

GCL Perovskite to collaborate with universities on perovskite research

GCL Perovskite, the perovskite research and manufacturing division of GCL Group, has signed an agreement with Suzhou Laboratory and Suzhou University to establish a joint research center. This collaboration aims to create a full-chain innovation platform integrating fundamental research, pilot-scale development, and industrialization. The partnership will focus on cutting-edge areas such as perovskite material research, high-throughput automation, and AI-driven multi-scale analysis. By pooling resources and expertise, the initiative seeks to enhance the efficiency and stability of large-area perovskite modules, providing key technological support for the commercialization of perovskite technology.

In January, GCL Perovskite announced that its 2,048 cm² module tandem perovskite module measuring has achieved a record-breaking power conversion efficiency of 28.06% (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

JA Solar receives SSI Silver Badge certification

Vertically integrated PV manufacturer JA Solar has received the Silver Badge certification from the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) for its manufacturing facilities in Fengxian District, Shanghai, and Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The company emphasized that this certification represents the highest rating currently awarded by SSI in the photovoltaic sector. JA Solar says its headquarters and manufacturing bases coordinated closely to optimize systematic policies and processes across biodiversity policies, carbon emissions, compliance risk management, lifecycle circularity, EHS targets, and control procedures. These efforts ultimately enabled the company to pass SSI’s on-site audit with outstanding performance.

SolaEon commissions 200 MW perovskite cell production line

Perovskite manufacturer SolaEon Technology has announced the commissioning of its 200 MW perovskite cell production line in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, rolling out the first batch of large-size module samples (1.2 m × 0.6 m). The company highlighted that domestically sourced manufacturing equipment accounts for over 95% of the production line, forming a complete technological system encompassing thin-film deposition, laser scribing, and thin-film encapsulation. SolaEon claims it has overcome key industrialization challenges such as uniform large-area perovskite film deposition and process stability at high throughput. The company expects its mass production efficiency to exceed 21.5% and plans to scale up to GW-level capacity.

TCL TZE gains ISO 20400 compliance statement

Solar PV wafer and cell manufacturer TCL TZE’s Supply Chain Management Center has passed an audit by the British Standards Institution (BSI), receiving the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Compliance Statement. The company says it established the "Partner ESG Code of Conduct" as its overarching supply chain management framework in 2024, regulating supplier practices across environmental protection, labor rights, and business ethics. TCL TZE stated that obtaining the ISO 20400 compliance statement is a critical step in its transformation from a cost-driven to a value-driven supply chain model, signifying the official upgrade of its supply chain to a sustainable and responsible procurement system.
