GCL SI supplies 1.23 GW of modules for desert PV project

Solar module manufacturer GCL System Integration (GCL SI) has announced that it has delivered 1.23 GW of its NT12R/66GDF high-efficiency modules for Shenergy’s 2 GW PV project in Hami, Xinjiang. Located in Tacheng, Xinjiang, this project is being built with a total investment of about RMB 5 billion ($697 million), covering roughly 11.85 million m2. It adopts a ‘PV + ecological restoration’ model, utilizing desertified land resources for green energy development, with an expected cumulative power generation of 32.59 billion kWh over a 25-year period.

The modules supplied to this project feature resistance to wind and sand, corrosion, and UV, along with enhanced durability. According to the company, these products have passed IEC 61215-2:2021 testing, with thermal cycle tests increased to 600 and power degradation controlled within 2%.

Trina Storage commissions new manufacturing base

Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of integrated PV manufacturer Trinasolar, has commissioned Phase I of its manufacturing base in Dafeng District, Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. Spanning 14,000 m2, the facility is equipped with workshops for cell fabrication, module assembly, performance validation, and safety testing. Trinasolar stated that once fully operational, the Dafeng base will expand Trina Storage’s storage manufacturing capacity to 25 GWh, supporting its pipeline of more than 70 GWh in reserved projects.

Earlier this month, Trina Storage obtained the witness laboratory qualification from the China General Certification Center (CGC) (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

EGING PV announces change of control

Solar cell and module manufacturer EGING PV has disclosed changes in its shareholder and control structure. Through judicial auctions conducted in 3 batches, 3 individual buyers each acquired 50 million shares (4.22% of total equity), with a combined transaction amount of approximately RMB 459 million ($64 million).

The buyers have no concerted action agreements or related-party ties with each other or with current directors, supervisors, or senior executives. The largest shareholder, Shenzhen Heqin Investment Industrial Partnership, now holds only 4.62% of shares, leaving ownership highly dispersed. Based on the new equity structure, the company stated that it no longer has a controlling shareholder or actual controller.

3 third-party bodies endorse LONGi’s Hi-MO X10 Triple Protection module

Leading global solar manufacturer LONGi has released empirical data from demonstration projects across China for its Hi-MO X10 ‘Triple Protection’ module. The module has been jointly validated by the China PV Testing Center (CPVT), TÜV Rheinland, and CGC. The focus was on its performance in the 3 areas of fire prevention, shading tolerance, and dust mitigation. CPVT issued a ‘Triple Protection’ module testing certificate for this module, while TÜV Rheinland issued an Anti-Shadow A+ Grade certification, verifying lower power loss under various shading conditions.

Recently, LONGi grid-connected of its first PV project using Hi-MO X10 Guardian Light Design modules (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
