BayWa has sold 3 solar plants with 115 MW capacity in Spain; Green Genius too has divested stake in 152 MW PV in Spain; RES has proposed 25 MW solar farm in the UK; Gamesa Electric's 2022 business was driven by Proteus central inverters.
BayWa sells 115 MW in Spain: BayWa r.e. has offloaded 115 MW solar PV capacity in Spain, selling it to L&G NTR Clean Power Fund managed by global asset manager Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) and renewable energy company NTR. Of the 3 projects, 2 will be located in Castilla la Mancha region. The 3rd project under the deal comprises 2 installations near Granada in Andalusia. The German renewable energy developer says the projects each have long-term power purchase agreements in place, with multinational food and beverage company Nestlé, global provider of sustainable packaging solutions Huhtamaki, and Spanish renewable energy provider Holaluz.
OX2 acquires 6 solar plants in Spain: Swedish renewable energy company OX2 has acquired 6 late-stage solar power plants in Spain from Green Genius. This 152 MW capacity has environmental clearance and is located in Andalusia. OX2 says this is the company's 2nd acquisition of solar power projects in Spain where it sees considerable potential for growth.
25 MW solar farm proposed in the UK: RES has proposed to build a 25 MW solar farm in southeast of Cromhall in South Gloucestershire of the UK. It is seeking planning permission for a period of 40 years for the Varley Solar Farm that's planned to be located on approximately 53.4 hectares of agricultural land. The British developer says the power plant will be capable of producing clean, green electricity for close to 9,700 homes annually while also delivering an estimated £80,000 business rates annually to fund vital local services. The project proposal submitted has factored in feedback the company says it received during a public consultation in July 2022. Details of the Varley Solar Farm are available on the project website.
Gamesa's solar inverter orders soared in 2022: Gamesa Electric says in 2022, its contracted capacity of solar and storage inverters orders tripled annually as it experienced 182% increase in MWs signed. Much of this success was thanks to the launch of its Proteus central inverter with 98% of contracts signed last year were for this solution. Demand particularly came from the US and Spanish markets. It is now expanding further as it expects strong global growth in solar, storage and green hydrogen installations. In May 2022, it signed a GW scale order for Proteus with Siemens AG (see Gamesa's GW Level PV Inverters & Storage Order).
