Key Takeaways
  • Germany’s June 1, 2025 solar tender awarded 255 MW across 118 winning bids out of 127

  • Most awards went to small projects under 2 MW; the largest awarded project was 20 MW

  • North Rhine-Westphalia led with 51 MW; the capacity was regionally distributed across several states

Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has announced 118 winning bids representing 255 MW combined capacity for its June 1, 2025 tender for solar systems on buildings and noise barriers.

It received 127 bids, accounting for a combined 274 MW for the tender that had 283 MW on offer. “Despite the declining bid volume, the legally stipulated volume was almost reached,” said the President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller. "Regionally, the awards are also evenly distributed in this round. A consistent expansion of renewable energies throughout Germany is to be welcomed.”

This round comprised projects with an installed capacity of 1 MW to 20 MW. A large number of projects, 79 to be precise, were awarded for projects with up to 2 MW installed capacity. The largest winning project had 20 MW capacity.

Winning bids ranged from €0.069 to $0.1038 ($0.080 to $0.12)/kWh while the weighted average winning bid was determined as €0.0922 ($0.11)/kWh, slightly higher than €0.091/kWh in the previous round (see Germany Awards 317 MW In Oversubscribed Solar Auction).

In the latest round, North Rhine-Westphalia secured the largest chunk of the awarded capacity with 51 MW, followed by 47 MW in Brandenburg, 33 MW in Lower Saxony, and 32 MW in Hesse.

The next tender round for this segment is scheduled to be held on October 1, 2025.
