Germany installed more than 5.5 GW new solar PV capacity in the initial 10 months of the year, comprising 606.998 MW in the month of October 2022, according to the country's Federal Network Agency or Bundesnetzagentur, bringing it closer to the 7 GW annual national target.
Capacity installed in October 2022 comprised 382.97 MW commissioned outside the EEG tender scheme, with only 3.09 MW being ground mounted. There was a decline in monthly numbers compared to September 2022, when the agency reported 691 MW of newly installed capacity (see Germany Installed 691 MW New Solar In Sept 2022).
There has also been a steady increase in quarterly installations with 1.56 GW added in Q1, followed by 1.62 GW in Q2, and 1.71 GW in Q3.
In comparison, 218.56 MW of new onshore wind capacity was registered in October 2022 in the country taking its 10M/2022 number to 1.87 GW.
