

Japan’s 27th solar auction awarded the entire 79 MW of capacity across 11 winning bids
Prices ranged from JPY 0.00/kWh to JPY 6.49/kWh, below the JPY 8.68/kWh cap
The largest winning project was Manako Solar LLC’s 29.9 MW plant with a bid of JPY 4.46/kWh
Japan has concluded the country’s 27th Solar Auction, awarding the entire 79 MW of bid volume across 11 bids, with a weighted average winning bid of JPY 4.61/kWh. This is significantly lower than the previous round’s JPY 7.13/kWh average winning bid.
According to the Green Investment Promotion Organization (OCCTO), this round was oversubscribed, as it received business plans for 38 projects representing a combined 198.08 MW AC. Out of these, 23 bids totaling 161.94 MW entered the auction. OCCTO then finally selected 11 winning bids.
The minimum successful bid was JPY 0.00/kWh, while the highest successful bid was JPY 6.49/kWh, against a cap of JPY 8.68/kWh. Hinomoto Power’s 400 kW project was the only one with a JPY 0.00/kWh strike price in this round.
The largest selected project in this round, with 29.9 MW capacity, Manako Solar LLC, was selected with a winning bid of JPY 4.46/kWh.
With this, OCCTO said it concluded the last solar auction of FY 2025. In the previous round, it awarded 75.3 MW capacity well under the 163 MW available under the tender (see Japan Allocates 75.3 MW Capacity In 26th Solar Auction).
