Key Takeaways
  • Qcells plans to launch residential solar panels with US-made aluminum frames by the end of 2026

  • ALUKO Group’s Tennessee facility is expected to produce frames for 4 GW of solar modules annually

  • Qcells said these frames will help installers and TPOs qualify for domestic content bonus under US ITC

Solar PV manufacturer Qcells plans to launch new versions of its residential solar panels featuring aluminum frames manufactured in the US by the end of 2026, expanding its portfolio of US-made products.

Qcells said the products are designed to support projects meeting the 55% domestic content requirement applicable to projects beginning construction in 2027.

The new panels are intended to help residential solar installers and third-party ownership (TPO) providers qualify for the domestic content bonus under the US investment tax credit (ITC).

"By keeping all three major stages of frame manufacturing in the U.S., Qcells is taking a rigorous, transparent approach to incorporating domestically manufactured components into its products," stated Qcells.

The new versions of its Q.TRON AC and Q.PEAK DUO AC panels will use frames produced at the Tennessee facilities of aluminum manufacturer and Qcells’ supplier partner ALUKO Group. Qcells says these are the only facilities to carry out these processes in the US.

The frames will undergo extrusion, anodizing, and fabrication at ALUKO Group’s facility in Halls, Lauderdale County, Tennessee. The facility is expected to begin full production by the end of 2026, with an annual capacity to produce enough frames for 4 GW of solar modules.

ALUKO Group plans to invest more than $107 million in Tennessee over five years and create 285 full-time jobs as part of the manufacturing expansion.

Qcells has also invested in manufacturing facilities in Dalton and Cartersville, Georgia, as it expands its US solar manufacturing footprint. Its total solar PV module production capacity at these locations is expected to reach 8.6 GW annually by the end of September 2026. In June this year, it launched solar cell production at Cartersville (see Qcells Launches US Solar Cell Manufacturing At Georgia).
