Key Takeaways
  • Saatvik Green Energy Limited has commissioned a 2 GW EPE encapsulant film manufacturing facility at its Ambala, Haryana campus

  • It expects the co-located EPE line to reduce costs by saving on transport, logistics, packaging, and material handling, while lowering exposure to global price volatility

  • The company says in-house EPE production will help ensure consistent quality across its module portfolio

Saatvik Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has commissioned a 2 GW in-house EPE encapsulant film manufacturing facility, expanding the company’s vertical integration beyond solar PV cells and modules.

Saatvik currently operates a 4.8 GW module manufacturing plant in Haryana and is developing a greenfield integrated facility in Odisha to produce 4 GW modules and 4.8 GW solar cells (see India Solar PV News Snippets).

The new fab, co-located with the company’s existing module manufacturing complex in Ambala, Haryana, will help it achieve meaningful cost optimization in transport, logistics, packaging, and material handling. It will also save the manufacturer from global supply chain disruptions, shortages, and price volatility.

“The strategic location of the EPE line within the same manufacturing premises delivers significant operational advantages. Near-zero transport time between encapsulant production and module lamination enables just-in-time material supply, eliminates inter-facility logistics delays, and supports lean manufacturing practices,” explained Saatvik Green Energy Limited CEO Prashant Mathur. “This integration improves shop-floor productivity, enhances equipment uptime, and ensures seamless production flow across the module assembly process.”

With its in-house EPE production, Saatvik says it can ensure consistent quality across its entire module portfolio, including M10 and G12 high-wattage module formats.

Saatvik is also expanding horizontally as it introduced UDAY solar inverters last year (see Saatvik Introduces UDAY Series Inverters). Speaking with TaiyangNews at REI 2025, Mathur shared that the group is also exploring further vertical integration with ingots and wafers, and horizontal integration, with ancillary products, including transformers, cables, and battery energy storage systems (see Saatvik Promotes Module & String Inverter; Shares Future Plans At REI 2025).

TaiyangNews is coming back to India with the 2nd edition of the Solar Technology Conference India (STC.I 2026) on February 5 and 6, 2026. The event will bring together the who’s who and emerging players in the Indian solar PV manufacturing space. Registrations are open here.
