New European Module Business Head At Trina

Chinese Module Maker Trina Solar Appoints Gonzalo de la Viña To Look After Its Business On The European Continent
  • Trina Solar has named Gonzalo de la Viña its Module Business Unit Head for Europe
  • De la Viña has been with Trina Solar as its Northern Europe Sales Director since 2015

Chinese module maker Trina Solar has elevated Gonzalo de la Viña from his job as a Sales Director for Northern Europe to Module Business Unit Head for the entire European Continent.

Experienced in strategy management for various markets, management of sales teams and the support of important projects, De la Viña has been with Trina Solar since 2015. He previously worked for REC Solar as the Managing Director for Germany, Austria, Switzerland & Eastern Europe.

In October 2015, the management had appointed RongFang Yin as the regional head of the Module Business Unit in Europe and Africa, after its former head European head Ben Hill left the company to lead Tesla's European energy business (see Ben Hill leaves Trina).

On his appointment Gonzalo said, "Our goal is to expand our market share in Europe despite the harsh climate on the solar market. We will open up new customer segments in the future and at the same time strengthen our existing partnerships. The strengths of Trina Solar are convincing: the good positioning of our international organization, our competitive offer and our strong market presence in Europe."

France would be one of the 'interesting local markets' for Trina to explore, said Gonzalo. "Expanding our product portfolio with a particularly small carbon footprint will further improve our access to interesting local markets such as France. This shows once more that Trina Solar is able to act locally and respond to specific needs."

Trina Solar withdrew from the European Commission's Minimum Price Undertaking in December 2015 after finishing its cell manufacturing facilities outside China, which allows the company to serve its European clients at market prices.

In June 2016, the Chinese company had also announced replacing its Chief Financial Officer Teresa Tan with Xu Ying (see CFO Replacement At Trina).
