7 July, 2020 RENA Technologies and the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel are continuing the joint research project “PorSSi”, funded by the BMBF, to develop a production process for silicon anodes for lithium-ion batteries. After the process was developed at the RENA company, the next step is now taken with the commissioning of the pilot plant at the CAU. With this InPorSi system, the silicon material is structured in an electrochemical process and a porous silicon layer is formed. An important prerequisite for the production of a long-life silicon anode with a high energy density. The innovative production solution enables inline processing of the material – which ensures the scalability of the concept for industrial production.
