NEXTracker Gets 830 MW Solar Tracker Order For Brazil

American Solar PV Tracker Supplier Nextracker Bags 830 MW NX Horizon Tracker Order For Phase I Of Janauba Solar Complex In Minas Gerais, Brazil

  • Nextracker has secured a 830 MW solar tracker order to be deployed for a project in Brazil
  • These trackers will form phase I of the Janauba Solar Complex that, according to local media reports is to have 1.2 GW installed capacity when complete
  • Nextracker will supply its NX Horizon bifacial optimized solution trackers for this order

Solar PV tracker manufacturer and supplier Nextracker of the US has landed itself an order to supply 830 MW of its NX Horizon bifacial optimized solution trackers for a project in Brazil that’s touted by the promoters to be the largest of its kind solar power plant in all of South America when it is complete in early 2022.

The 830 MW trackers will be deployed under phase I of the Janauba Solar Complex, near the city of Janauba in Minas Gerais, Brazil. While Nextracker didn’t reveal the exact capacity of the complex, it is likely to have 1.2 GW of installed capacity when complete, according to previous local media reports about the project.

In July 2020, project developer Solatio entered a contract with Brookfield Energia Renovavel to sell the complex to the latter that comprises 20 parks. Brookfield Energia Renovavel’s name was later changed to Elera Renovaveis that along with Brazilian EPC firm Andrade Gutierrez placed the order with Nextracker for 830 MW trackers.

Nextracker said its local team in Brazil will support the project with engineering advisory as well as commissioning, asset management and advanced data analytics services for preventive maintenance.

The Janauba Solar Complex is one of the big solar complexes coming up in Brazil. Focus Energia is planning a 3 GW Futura Solar Complex in Bahia state for which it raised BRL 765 million recently (see Focus Energia Planning 3 GW Solar Complex In Bahia, Brazil). In Minas Gerais’ state’s Jaiba municipality, Brazilian miner Vale SA announced a 766 MW Sol do Cerrado Solar Project to be set up in the form of 17 sub-parks (see Brazilian Mining Firm To Get 766 MW Solar Park).

Nextracker is also supplying the NX Horizon trackers for Australia’s largest planned solar farm, Western Downs Green Power Hub (see NEXTracker Trackers For Australia’s Largest Solar Farm).
