Indian renewables company Azure Power has brought on board Rupesh Agarwal as the company’s new chief strategy and commercial officer to oversee all its commercial and strategic functions with a focus on building a cohesive growth strategy.
Agarwal has worked in senior positions at Government of India’s Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), Lightsource Renewable Energy, BDO India and Ernst & Young (EY), in his career spanning 2 decades across asset development and strategy consulting functions.
He was also an entrepreneur having founded a zero emission electric mobility startup called AEM Energie & Motum that provided public electric bus trials under a wet lease model for urban utilities.
“We are pleased to have Rupesh on board with us at Azure. His deep business experience will help Azure have an integrated approach to meet our strategic commercial objectives. I look forward to closely working with him to capitalize on the right opportunities as we continue to deliver value impact projects,” said Azure CEO Harsha Shah who himself recently joined the NYSE listed company (see Azure Power’s CEO Search Ends).
In June, Azure Power announced to invest in local solar cell and module maker Premier Energies Group and also source up to 600 MW modules annually for the next 4 years under a module supply agreement. It emphasized, “This is the first-of-its-kind strategic partnership between an Independent Power Producer and a solar manufacturing company in India” (see Azure Power Invests In Solar PV Manufacturer).
