Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec has announced senior management changes with an ex-resource of one of its stakeholders Equinor Hans Jakob Hegge set to join the company as chief financial officer (CFO) as a new role is created for the current incumbent Mikkel Tørud.
Having been the company's CFO for past 8 years, Tørud will now be in charge of Green Hydrogen and Middle East North Africa (MENA) region as Scatec's EVP. He has previously worked with REC and bp among others.
These management changes are the execution of the company's strategy unveiled in September 2022, aimed at increased regional growth and to further strengthen the company's organization.
"Each region, namely Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Asia, and Latin America/Europe, will be responsible for the company's operating power plants and business development. We are also lifting green hydrogen as a key focus area to executive management level," stated the Norwegian company a few months back.
Hegge, on the other hand, will assume his new responsibilities at Scatec from March 1, 2023. He worked with Equinor in various senior leadership positions including as CFO from 2015 to 2018, and as country manager for the US market.
In his most recent employment, Hegge has been working with an industrial group called Moreld as its CFO since 2021. Overall, he has over 24 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
"I am excited that Hans Jakob Hegge will join Scatec's management team and take on the position as our new CFO. Hegge has extensive experience from senior leadership positions from both finance and operations, roles that are well suited for Scatec's growth journey," said Scatec CEO Terje Pilskog.
