  • SPE's annual general elections saw Enel Green Power's Aristotelis Chantavas re-elected as its president

  • RWE Renewables was the only new addition as a board member with the election of Stefanie Alexander

Member-led solar PV association for all of Europe, SolarPower Europe (SPE) has announced the appointment of key board members as Enel Green Power's Aristotelis Chantavas was re-elected president while RWE Renewables' Stefanie Alexander joined as a new member of the Board of Directors.

The annual general elections of the association that acts as a 'link' between policymakers and European solar PV industry, did not throw up any major surprises. Of the 5 out of 15 board seats up for election, RWE was the only newest addition as IBC Solar's Jörg Ebel also retained the seat on the board.

Jochen Hauff of BayWa r.e. and Alexandra Sombsthay of Akuo too were re-elected as vice-presidents of the SPE.

The SPE board members get to serve a 3-year term post which there are elections to select new or existing members.

On the occasion, SPE said it will fully support the EU Green Deal objective of climate neutrality and net zero economy in Europe.

Chantavas said, "European solar is entering a new era. Solar is more in demand than ever, and citizens and policymakers are counting on us to deliver climate neutrality and energy security. It's a great honour to be re-elected as President of SolarPower Europe, and to be able to continue building the solar foundation of the new European energy system."

Chantavas was 1st elected as SPE's president in March 2020 when he replaced Wacker Chemie's Christian Westermeier (see Enel Executive To Head SolarPower Europe As President).
