Top Leadership Reshuffle At Swiss Solar Company

• 3S Swiss Solar Solutions has reshuffled its top leadership and created a new position  
• Responsible for setting up the company's Worb fab, Klaus Schmülling has been elevated as the new COO 
• Previous COO Marcus Bäckmann has been moved to the newly created CTO position  

Building integrated PV (BIPV) solar PV company 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG is making changes in the top leadership, appointing Klaus Schmülling as its new chief operating officer (COO). It has also created a new Chief Technical Officer (CTO) position within the group. 

In his previous roles with the company, Schmülling is credited with setting up 3S' new production facility in Worb and bringing in his extensive experience in international technology transfer projects. This experience, the management says, will help the company further drive operational excellence and efficiency.  

3S has appointed the previous COO Marcus Bäckmann as the new CTO. Bäckmann has been with the company for the last 5 years during which time he built the necessary operational structure. 

"The promotions of Klaus and Marcus are an important step to ensure the future viability of 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG and to further expand our position as market leader in the Swiss solar industry," said CEO and Owner of 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG, Dr. Patrick Hofer-Noser. 

3S has been operating a BIPV factory in Gwatt, near Thun. From January 2024, it plans to add another manufacturing location in Worb, near Bern, where it will produce the new TeraSlate module. 

Previously known as 3S Solar Plus AG, the company merged with Meyer Burger Technologies AG in 2010, and later changed its name to 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG in 2022.
