United Solar Holding has strengthened its leadership team with Todd Templeton’s appointment to support growth across the US and the Americas
His appointment follows production ramp-up at the company’s large-scale polysilicon facility in Oman
The company is positioning its traceable polysilicon supply to meet evolving US sourcing requirements
Oman-based high-purity polysilicon producer United Solar Holding Inc. has appointed Todd Templeton as Director of the Americas to lead its commercial expansion in the US and across the region.
United Solar said that his appointment aligns with its strategy to strengthen its presence in the US market. The company says it produces fully traceable, high-purity polysilicon and that its products comply with US Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) requirements. It calls itself the only large-scale manufacturer of polysilicon operating outside of FEOC regions.
Founded in 2023, United Solar operates its manufacturing facility in Oman via United Solar Polysilicon (FZC). It focuses on supplying polysilicon to global solar manufacturers while supporting efforts to diversify the solar supply chain.
Recently, United Solar achieved financial close for the Oman factory, raising approximately $1.6 billion in capital (see United Solar Completes $1.6B Fundraise For Polysilicon Plant).
In the new role, Templeton will oversee commercial strategy, customer partnerships and business development as the company increases production at its 100,000-ton-per-year polysilicon plant in Sohar Freezone, Oman. The facility, valued at $1.6 billion, began operations earlier this year (see 100,000 TPA Polysilicon Production Online In Oman).
Templeton has more than 2 decades of experience in the renewable energy and solar supply chain sectors. Before joining United Solar, he served as Director of the Americas at NorSun, where he led commercial and supply chain activities for a planned 5 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing project. Templeton represented NorSun at the TaiyangNews Solar Made in USA Conference at RE+ in 2024 (see Solar – Made In The US: TaiyangNews Physical Conference Session 2 In Collaboration With EUPD & RE+).
Previously, Templeton also held leadership positions at CubicPV and 1366 Technologies that involved leading strategic partnerships and supply chain functions for US solar manufacturing.
Regarding Templeton’s appointment, Sam Zhang, Founder and Chairman of United Solar, said, “He will play a key role as United Solar expands into the U.S. market and works with customers and partners to strengthen U.S. domestic solar manufacturing.”
