Calendar Week 2 saw all products listed in the TaiyangNews PV Price Index, except one, maintain their prices WoW. This follows CW1 which was flat WoW to CW52 of 2023. Month-on-Month (MoM), however, most prices were down in the low- to high-single-digit range.
While all polysilicon types listed kept their levels WoW, Chinese polysilicon and reusable varieties were down -0.8% and -2.4% MoM, respectively.
Compared to CW50 of 2023, all wafer types listed were down in the single digits in CW2 of 2024. Among the p-type varieties, the 182 mm, 150 µm lost -5.7% MoM, with the 210 mm, 150 µm losing -1.6% MoM. For n-type wafers, the 210 mm, 130 µm variety was down -3.6%, while the 182 mm, 130 µm lost -9.8% MoM.
PERC bifacial p-type 182 mm is the only product listed that saw a change in its price WoW – it rose from 0.36 in CW1 to 0.39 in CW2. However, all cell varieties were down MoM – the p-type 182 mm by -8.2%, the 210 mm variety by -4.5%, and the TOPCon n-type 182 mm by -2.0%.
All PERC module types listed were down low- to mid-single-digits versus CW50 of 2023. The TOPCon bifacial type lost the least at -1.0%, while PERC monofacial was down the most at -5.4%. PERC bifacial 182 mm and 210 mm were down -3.2% and -3.1% MoM, respectively.
Solar glass varieties listed have maintained their prices since making sudden jumps upward in CW35 of 2023 – the thicker one by 9.8% (3.2 mm), the thinner product by 8.1% (2.0 mm).
While calendar year 2023 saw product prices declining from about 1/3rd to more than 2/3rds in some cases, CY2024 has started off on a flat note. Only one product has shown any kind of movement thus far, that too in the positive direction. While most of the MoM figures for CW2 show a down trend, there has been a general stabilization – or at least a slower decline rate – in prices over the past few weeks.
