TaiyangNews & SNEC 2024 - Solar Leadership Conversations With JinkoSolar Global Vice President Dany Qian

TaiyangNews Managing Director Michael Schmela hosted an exclusive interview with Dany Qian, Global Vice President at JinkoSolar, as part of TaiyangNews & SNEC 2024 – Solar Leadership Conversations at Shanghai.

JinkoSolar, renowned for its leadership in solar PV innovations and efficiency enhancements, has been at the forefront of adopting TOPCon technology. Reflecting on the company’s pioneering journey, Dany Qian highlighted the critical role of ecosystem collaboration in driving technological advancements. “For new technologies like TOPCon, the ecosystem is pivotal—especially the collaboration with equipment suppliers who work closely with our R&D and production teams,” Qian emphasized.

Discussing the market dynamics, Qian noted the rapid shift from PERC to n-type technologies. “By the end of this year, we anticipate 80% of our production will be n-type, may be escalating to 90% next year,” she projected.

Qian affirmed JinkoSolar’s strategic foresight amidst market fluctuations, citing its strong Q1 performance and high capacity utilization rates.

Addressing global expansion and localization efforts, Qian outlined JinkoSolar’s strategy of diversifying manufacturing bases. “We currently operate factories in Malaysia, Vietnam, and the US, with plans for further expansion,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of aligning overseas operations with its stringent quality standards and cost efficiencies.

Providing some insights into JinkoSolar’s cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities in China, Qian said, “The scale and efficiency of this facility are unparalleled, with intelligent automation reducing lead times and costs significantly.”

Innovation remains a cornerstone of JinkoSolar’s growth strategy, with substantial investments in R&D exceeding RMB 7 billion last year. “Continuous innovation allows us to lead rather than follow,” Qian affirmed, outlining the company’s commitment to advancing solar technologies and expanding into complementary sectors like batteries and BIPV.

Looking ahead, Qian expressed optimism amidst industry challenges, forecasting a gradual market recovery and sustained demand for n-type TOPCon technologies. “We anticipate a positive trajectory in the second half of the year,” she concluded, underscoring JinkoSolar’s confidence in navigating market dynamics.
