  • SolaEon says its perovskite solar cell module has achieved a steady state efficiency of 19.2% based on 1,027.1 c area
  • It is now listed on top of the NREL’s champion efficiency chart for perovskite solar cell modules
  • SolaEon says its module is now the first large-size module to break through the 1,000 c level among all NREL perovskite single-cell solar modules

SolaEon Technology, the Chinese perovskite solar PV company, has made it to the top of the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) champion module efficiencies chart for its perovskite modules.

With 19.2% steady-state efficiency, SolaEon says its perovskite solar cell module is now the one with the largest area and highest certified efficiency perovskite solar module in the world. It also claims its module to be the first large-size module to break through the 1,000 c level among all NREL perovskite single-cell solar modules.

NREL conducted a rigorous review of its perovskite module for 119 days post which it included the efficiency, says the company. It explains that the US laboratory’s certification standards require the relative fluctuation of the output power of the module to be less than 1% for a total test time of more than 10 minutes, maintaining a stable state during long-term continuous operation.

In the NREL test, SolaEon claims its perovskite cell module with a large illumination area of 1,027.1 c achieved zero attenuation in the test of Maximum Efficiency Point Tracking Output (MPPT) to reach the stated steady-state efficiency.

SolaEon says with its 19.2% efficiency on a larger area, it has exceeded the efficiencies reported by the world’s leading companies like Toshiba and Panasonic that tested 800 c modules. In February 2024, Chinese company UtmoLight achieved 20.7% steady-state efficiency for large-size perovskite modules on 810 cm² size (see Chinese Perovskite Manufacturer Achieves 20.7% Efficiency).

“Not only does it set a new benchmark for perovskite single-cell solar modules, but it also marks a major breakthrough for SolaEon in the solar field,” said the Chinese company.

Earlier in October 2023, SolaEon claimed its 1,200 sq. cm. perovskite single-junction solar cell module achieved a 3rd party certified efficiency of 21.63%.
