  • VALOREM has announced a long-term PPA for its agrivoltaic project in France
  • ALLIANCE Group will offtake power generated from the project for 20 years
  • Located on agricultural land, the project site will accommodate sheep pasture

French renewable energy company VALOREM Group has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) for an agrivoltaic project in the country with the ALLIANCE Group, an agri-food federation of small and medium enterprises (SME).

The Vigeant Agrivoltaic Project is located in the commune of Vigeant, in the Department of Vienne. Operational since the beginning of 2024, the project site is on a plot of French sheep and goat meat slaughterhouse operated by SODEM.

The solar project will accommodate a sheep pasture and produce close to 12.4 GWh annually. ALLIANCE will offtake solar electricity from the project for a period of 20 years at a fixed price.

VALOREM says since the project is located on agricultural land, it is not eligible to participate in the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) held tenders. It selected ALLIANCE after a competitive solicitation process launched in 2023.

VALOREM’s agrivoltaic solar PPA follows a similar agreement announced by Qair in March 2024 when the French renewables firm landed an 18-year corporate solar PPA with yeast manufacturer Lesaffre for its agrivoltaic facility (see France’s Qair Bags 18-Year Corporate Solar PPA Contract).

VALOREM recently also inaugurated a solar and energy storage project in Limoux in Aude department of France. The grid-connected solar park comprises 1.25 MW PV and 2.3 MWh storage capacity.

Meanwhile, VALOREM has secured a land lease agreement for its solar power project in Finland with the Kärkölä municipality. To be located in Kärkölä, on the site of the former wastewater treatment plant, the project is planned to generate more than 40 GWh annually from around 60 MW installed capacity.
