Spanish solar PV production equipment company Mondragon Assembly says it has developed a ‘new proprietary technique’ for the Netherlands based solar module maker Solarge that has placed an order for 100 MW line with the firm.

The production line will be an automatic one, designed ad-hoc and manufactured specifically to produce Solarge’s lightweight solar panels. Mondragon plans to install the customized line in Q3/2022 and bring it online by the end of 2022. Solarge will expand its capacity to 380 MW by 2024.

The Dutch manufacturer uses fibre-reinforced polymers for its lightweight modules that weigh less than half of conventional panels that release up to 75% less carbon during the manufacturing process.

“This technique allows Solarge to choose and use the best solar cells available now and in the future. The technology developed by the Dutch company also offers flexibility in terms of applications; agrivoltaics, floating, and rooftop,” added the Spanish company. “Mondragon Assembly and Solarge look forward to successfully launching this innovative technology as a new standard in the solar sector.”

In March 2022, Solarge secured an undisclosed investment from 4 investors for the 100 MW line which back then it said will be scaled up to 350 MW capacity (see 100 MW Dutch Solar Panel Fab Moves Forward).
