Key Takeaways
  • Sungrow’s SHT series hybrid inverter meets the revised VDE-AR-N 4105:2026 requirements, including feed-in control, reactive power support, and system protection

  • This updated standard indicates the evolving complexities in Germany’s low-voltage grids, requiring dynamic response and grid support capabilities

  • The company incorporated many of these new requirements during the inverter design phase, supporting the latest certification with a few parameter adjustments

Sungrow, a global provider of PV inverters and battery energy storage solutions (BESS), has obtained the TÜV Rheinland’s VDE-AR-N 4105:2026 certificate for its SHT series hybrid inverter.

Initially released by the VDE Association for Electrical Electronics & Information Technologies, this certificate relates to Germany’s low-voltage grid connection regulations. This updated standard, which adds a wider inverter power range, stringent inverter performance, and compatibility with complex grid conditions, came into effect from March 1, 2026.

The SHT hybrid inverter series was evaluated for multiple functions, including feed-in limitation, reactive power support, and grid stability, during certification. Feed-in limitation ensures the control of the export of excess power to the grid, while injecting or absorbing reactive power supports grid voltage stability. In addition, its network and system protection function maintains the safety and stability of the grid.

Sungrow states that it had incorporated many of these technical requirements into the SHT series before its formal launch, requiring adjustments to limited parameters for certification.

Recently, the company pitched its DC-coupled modular PV + ESS platform, Power Titan 3.0, for Europe, at the Sungrow PV +ESS Summit.
