Sudan Preparing RES FIT

UNDP Helping Sudan Get Feed-In-Tariff System In Place For Both Off-Grid & On-Grid Renewable Energy Generation
  • Sudan is hiring the services of an international consultant to prepare a FIT scheme for renewable energy sources
  • The consultant will review and revise the existing FIT that has been prepared by the Electricity Regulatory Authority
  • The new FIT will be for both off-grid and grid connected renewable energy generatio

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is helping Sudan prepare a RES feed-in-tariff (FIT) system. The African country wants to improve the state of electricity supply and wants to be prepared to deal with the changes occurring owing to climate change.

UNDP is looking for consultants to prepare a FiT scheme. Even though the current focus area is a wind energy project, the FiT system will be both for off-grid and grid connected renewable energy generation. The project will include setting up prices and payment mechanisms and cash flow modelling.

Sudan's Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has already conducted a separate study on FITs. But UNDP now wants the international consultant to review and revise the existing FIT document in consultation with ERA and the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation, Electricity (MWRIE).

UNDP had earlier posted a vacancy for an international consultant to start working on the project as of July 3, 2017.
