Democratic Republic of Congo’s State Electricity Utility SNEL Signs Up For Solar Power From 200 MW Solar Capacity To Be Located In Country’s Copper & Cobalt Regions: Reuters

Interest in large scale solar is growing in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as  the state-owned electricity utility of the country Société Nationale d’Électricité (SNEL) has entered power purchase agreements (PPA) for 2 solar power plants of 100 MW capacity each, set to be built for over $300 million, a report by Reuters said.

Off-grid cities of Gemena, Bumba and Isiro in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will soon become home to a $100 million hybrid solar, storage and diesel power generation project with 14 MW, 40 MWh and 4 MW capacity respectively.
