Denmark Secures European Commission’s Approval For €400 Million Renewable Energy Production Support Scheme, To Be Awarded Through Competitive Process; Scheme To Be Open Till 2024

The European Commission (EC) has stamped its approval to a renewable energy electricity production support scheme of Denmark allowing the country to set aside a maximum of DKK 3 billion or €400 million ($481 million) budget to be invested till 2024.

The Danish Energy Agency has announced winners of the country’s second technology neutral auction, awarding 252 MW with an average weighted price of DKK 0.0154 per kWh compared to the previous round’s DKK 0.0228 per kWh and the ceiling tariff of DKK 0.06 per kWh.

The 140 MW wind and solar power tender by Danish Energy Agency was oversubscribed, receiving total bids of 540 MW (260 MW for wind and 280 MW for solar), leading the agency to finally award higher than the original capacity to wind (165 MW) and solar.
