CALB’s Three Gorges Qingyun storage facility has a capacity of 201 MW and stores up to 402 MWh of energy
The storage system is distributed across 60 containers, supporting various energy management functions
It supports critical functions such as frequency regulation, reactive power, and power quality management while stabilizing renewable energy fluctuations
China-based CALB is overseeing the Three Gorges New Energy Qingyun Energy Storage Power Station Project, which was recognized as a finalist for The smarter E AWARD 2024.
This project is home to China’s largest grid-connected energy storage power plant, featuring a capacity of 201 MW with a storage capability of 402 MWh, distributed across 60 containers. These containers play a vital role in various energy management functions, including frequency regulation, reactive power support, power quality management, and stabilizing the fluctuations associated with renewable energy production.
The facility can store up to 400 MWh of green electricity on a single charge, helping to maintain a stable energy supply and enhancing the grid's resilience to renewable energy feed-in variability.
