Key takeaways:

  • Cybrid showcased polymer material solutions for PV modules and battery energy storage systems at SNEC 2026

  • The company's RayBo UV conversion film is designed to improve long-term module reliability while supporting high-efficiency cell technologies

  • The portfolio also included materials for perovskite PV, lightweight modules, post-installation module repair, and energy storage applications

PV modules have continued to improve in conversion efficiency over the past few years, with several new performance records in recent months (see latest TOP SOLAR MODULES). The materials used in module assembly play a key role in maintaining the performance over a decade or two. Encapsulation films and backsheets in particular are key to determining module reliability, long-term yield, and operational lifetime.

At SNEC 2026 in Shanghai, well-known encapsulant manufacturer Cybrid Technologies presented its portfolio of polymer material solutions for PV and energy storage applications. The showcase included a variety of materials developed to address the evolving requirements of mainstream PV technologies, including TOPCon, back-contact (BC), heterojunction (HJT), and perovskites.

The company’s primary focus was on its RayBo UV Conversion Film to address UV-induced degradation (UVID), a key concern for high-efficiency TOPCon and HJT modules. Encapsulant films that convert UV light into wavelengths more effectively utilized by solar cells are becoming popular. According to the company, the film is also compatible with other films, including EVA, EPE, POE, and TPO. Cybrid has been supplying this film for a long time and highlights its usage in several modules made by JA, for example. Hisanari Onouchi, Deputy CTO at Cybrid, explained in detail about how the product helps achieve high efficiency and long-term reliability at the TaiyangNews Cell & Module Production Equipment & Processing Materials Conference 2025.

Beyond UV conversion films, Cybrid also presented encapsulation solutions for perovskite solar cells, lightweight module materials, and space-application products. The company also presented aftermarket, post-installation module repair materials as part of its MoPro series. These include frame sealants and water ingress prevention solutions.

Cybrid Technologies also ventured into materials for energy storage applications, offering solutions that cover structural bonding, electrical insulation, and thermal safety management. These materials are intended for applications including battery packaging and liquid-cooling systems, where adhesion performance and resistance to aging are critical. Alongside these, the company offers materials for insulation, fire protection, impact resistance, and thermal runaway mitigation.
