Key Takeaways
  • The encapsulation films from Jolywood offer thicknesses between 368 and 588 μm and widths from 800 to 1,400 mm

  • EVA films deliver at least 91% transmittance and 16 MPa tensile strength, while EPE films are slightly lower at 90% and 6 MPa

  • All models feature a 6-month shelf life under standard storage conditions

China-based Jolywood offers encapsulation products in both EVA and EPE formats. The company’s EVA-based encapsulation product line, designed for the solar industry, including JW-EVA01, JW-EVA09, JW-EPE01, and JW-EPE09, has been available since 2022. These fast-cure encapsulants meet industry standards, with thickness ranges of 376 to 564 μm for JW-EVA01 and JW-EPE01, 368 to 552 μm for JW-EVA09, and 392 to 588 μm for JW-EPE09. All 4 products come in widths ranging from 800 to 1,400 mm.

All products feature a clear color and embossed surface finish. In terms of mechanical and chemical properties, EVA films exhibit a tensile strength of at least 16 MPa in both MD and TD directions, while EPE products are rated at ≥ 6 MPa. Elongation of at least 450% and shrinkages of no more than 3% (MD) and 1.5% (TD) are observed in all films (see Encapsulation Sector Balancing Innovation And Cost Pressures In Solar).

Additionally, they offer strong adhesion strength, with more than 100 N/cm to glass and over 60 N/cm to the backsheet. These products are easy to store in conditions of 0 to 35°C and 10 to 60% RH, with a shelf life of 6 months.

To differentiate, JW-EVA01 and JW-EVA09 boast a light transmittance of at least 91% within the range of 1,100 to 380 nm, while JW-EPE01 and JW-EPE09 offer slightly lower transmittance of at least 90%. Furthermore, JW-EPE09 and JW-EVA09 feature a UV cut-off at 280 to 380 nm, while this characteristic has not been specified for JW-EPE01 and JW-EVA01. All products maintain a volume resistivity of more than 1 × 1015 Ω cm (see Optimizing Encapsulation For Next-Gen Solar Modules).
