M10 Solar Equipment GmbH, a German stringer tool maker based on ECA technology, showcased multiple PV modules featuring shingle cell matrix layouts built with its SURFACE interconnection tool at Intersolar Europe 2024.

Speaking to TaiyangNews, the tool maker highlighted one transparent BIPV module with a chequered type of colored glass and a flexible BIPV module based on its patented Innovat[10]n Shingle Matrix technology. In shingle matrix technology, solar cells are cut into strips and then overlapped slightly, similar to how shingles are laid on a roof. The company emphasized that its shingle matrix cell module, interconnected with an ECA-based tool, offers improved resilience against shading, and the potential for diverse module design.

Chequered color BIPV

This innovative integrated photovoltaic (PV) module with some coloring foil between the shingle technology interconnected cells offers suitability for building integrated PV (BIPV) or vehicle-integrated PV applications. The company noted that the module fabricated with the help of M10’s SURFACE stringer boasts a transparency of 40%.

Flexible BIPV module

The company also showcased a flexible integrated PV module equipped with a shingle matrix half-cell layout. M10 pointed out that the sub-array of shingle matrix cells is interconnected with a lead-free conductive tape without any need of auto bussing tool.
