SINEXCEL, a Shenzhen-based company active in energy storage, EV charging, and power quality solutions, has enhanced its capabilities by offering a smart energy management platform and an Urban-Scale Virtual Power Plant solution during SNEC 2025.

What is VPP?

A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is an aggregated system of distributed energy resources (DERs) that are coordinated using software platforms, AI, and cloud technologies to optimize generation, storage, and consumption of electricity, without being physically located in one place. The key components of a VPP are rooftop PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind turbines, electric vehicles (EVs) and chargers, smart appliances, and flexible C&I loads. The key functionalities of control & communication software are to aggregate data from all DERs, send commands to control power flow, and make real-time decisions. However, thanks to the integrated cloud-based energy management system (EMS), the centralized monitoring and dispatch of diverse DERs, in line with the grid operator or power market demands, becomes easier.

SNEC Showcase

During the exhibition, the company unveiled its latest Smart Energy Management Platform and Urban-Scale VPP Solution. Based on a comprehensive architecture, it integrates software and hardware. The new platform, featuring IoT, cloud computing, big data, and AI, this system can work as a central platform across the entire energy chain, including generation, transmission, distribution, storage, and consumption.

Based on the principle of 'open aggregation and shared value,' it supports aggregation of a wide range of DERs, wind and solar power stations, energy storage, microgrids, flexible loads, and EV charging facilities, into a unified dispatch platform. Addressing the common constraints of traditional VPPs, such as high costs, limited revenue channels, policy constraints, and low dispatch precision, this unified dispatch platform enables coordinated participation in electricity markets and demand response, explained the company.

SINEXCEL also collaborated with industry partners Schneider Electric, Enjoyelec, SZ GISCADA, Cunhui New Energy, and GOOD ENERGY to jointly launch an Urban-Scale VPP Ecosystem Initiative during the event.
