TCL SunPower Global has launched its SunPower Origin module series in Europe, based on its 8th-generation BC cell technology
The residential module delivers up to 505 W at 24.7% efficiency, while the commercial version offers up to 615 W
The modules come with a 40-year warranty covering product, power output, and service
TCL SunPower Global has introduced its new SunPower Origin solar module series in Europe, featuring the company’s 8th-generation back-contact (BC) cell technology. The series includes residential and commercial modules, backed by a 40-year warranty.
The residential module features 54 BC cells and delivers up to 505 W at a maximum efficiency of 24.7%. It measures 1,800 × 1,134 mm and comes in an all-black design. The commercial version uses 66 cells and offers up to 615 W. Measuring 2,192 × 1,134 mm, the module features a bifacial design with up to 80% bifaciality.
The company says the new modules use lithography-based cell patterning instead of laser processing to reduce the risk of microcracks. The cells are connected using solder joints designed to withstand temperatures of up to 220°C. TCL SunPower also highlights the module performance under partial shading. It claims the 54-cell Origin module provides a shading response comparable to having more than 16,000 bypass diodes, helping keep shaded cell temperatures below 100°C while the unshaded cells continue generating electricity. The module has received Class A+ shading-resistance certification from TÜV Rheinland, says the company.
The Origin series has a temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C. Its warranty covers the product, power output and service, with annual power degradation not exceeding 0.25%. TCL SunPower says its installed base of more than 15 GW of BC modules has recorded a warranty return rate of 0.005%, based on an internal analysis conducted in June 2026. The company also cited a field study covering 3.2 million module-years that found average annual degradation of less than 0.25%.
Steven Zhang, General Manager of TCL SunPower Global, said the new series builds on the company's experience with BC technology, which it first commercialized in 2004.
The company is accepting orders for this module series across Europe through SunPower Partners, with first deliveries expected before the end of 2026.
On the topic of long-term reliability of BC modules, Maxeon presented its findings on module degradation and durability at a TaiyangNews conference (see Maxeon IBC: Confluence Of Efficiency, Durability & Mature Ecosystem).
