Located on the Red Sea Coast in northeast Africa, Eritrea is looking at installing An African Development Fund (ADF) backed 30 MW solar PV project in Dekemhare with a battery energy storage system (BESS) and is looking for a project supervision and management consultant for the same.

Broad scope of work for the recruited consultant will be to assist project executing agency in the bidding process, including contract negotiations, ensure high technical standards for the project. The winner will also ensure the project is completed and connected to 66 kV transmission line in the specified period by the selected EPC contractor.

To cover payments for this assignment, Eritrea will be using part proceeds from financing it expects to receive from the ADF towards the cost of the solar power plant. ADF is the concessional financing window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group.

Launched on January 19, 2023, expressions of interest (EOI) documents can be submitted by February 20, 2023 to Eritrea's Ministry of Energy and Mines. Further details are available on the AfDB website.

Eritrea is one of the participating countries of AfDB led Desert to Power initiative that aims to develop 10 GW utility scale solar energy capacity across the G5 Sahel nations by 2030 (see $379.6 Million For Desert To Power).
