Ghana Invites Bids For Solar PV Mini Grids

• Ghana has launched a tender for solar PV mini grids and net metering projects 
• A total of 35 such installations are required for various communities across the country 
• Funding will come from grant financing the government has received from AfDB, Climate Investment Fund and the Swiss Government 

Ghana's Ministry of Energy is seeking bidders for 35 solar mini-grids and solar PV net metering for island and lakeside communities in the country.  

Broad scope of work for interested bidders is the design, supply and installation of these projects across various regions, distributed as follows:  

• 6 mini grids for 12 communities in Sene East district in the Bono Est region  
• 7 mini grids for 7 communities in Central and East Gonja districts in the Savannah region  
• 7 mini grids for 9 communities in Krachi East, West and Nchumuru districts in the Oti region  
• 5 mini grids for 6 communities in Sene East district in the Bono Est region  
• 6 mini grids for 7 communities in Kpandai district in the Northern Region and Pru East Districts in the Bono East region, and   
• 4 mini grids for 4 communities in Kpandai district in the Northern region and Krachi Nchumuru and Nkwanta South Districts in the Oti region.   

The government plans to use the proceeds from the grant financing received from the African Development Bank (AfDB), Climate Investment Fund and the Swiss Government, towards payments under the contracts for this tender. 

The call was issued on September 26, 2023 and the last date for bid submission is November 23, 2023. Details are available on AfDB's website.
