SECI’s latest tender for grid-connected solar PV projects offers 2 GW capacity
It needs to be accompanied by 1,000/4,000 MWh energy storage systems
SECI will sign offtake contracts with the winners, and sell the power generated to other buying entities
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched a new tender seeking developers for a 2 GW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar PV capacity under tranche-XVII, accompanied by 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh energy storage systems (ESS).
The request for selection (RfS) document specifies that the projects will need to be built on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis and connected to the grid.
A single project can be located at multiple locations with different delivery points. While the ESS component needs to be co-located with the project, in the case of project capacity being spread out, it must be co-located with at least one of the components.
A single bidder can submit bids for a minimum capacity of 50 MW, and a maximum of 1 GW.
Winning projects will enter 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with SECI which will then sell the power to different buying entities in India.
The call was issued on July 31, 2024, with the last date of submission being September 2, 2024 for soft and September 4, 2024 for a hard copy. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for August 12, 2024.
This call follows the tender for 1.2 GW ISTS-connected solar PV capacity under tranche-XVI issued in May 2024 (see SECI Launches New Solar PV Tender For 1.2 GW Capacity).
