  • NTPC REL has issued a call for BOS package with land for 300 MW solar capacity connected to the ISTS, anywhere in India
  • Selected bidder will be tasked with identifying and acquiring suitable land to be transferred to NTPC REL
  • The company will also be required to arrange grid connectivity at the respective ISTS substation
  • In addition, NTPC REL has also issued a tender to seek developers for 3,000 MWh with 500 MW (minimum) energy storage capacity to meet its RTC renewable energy needs

The NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has launched a tender for a balance of system (BOS) package with land for 300 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected solar power projects to be established anywhere in India.

Broad scope of work includes identifying and acquiring suitable land to be transferred to NTPC REL, along with identifying and arranging grid connectivity at the respective ISTS substation. Solar PV modules to be used for the projects can be supplied under open category.

Individual projects can be of a minimum 50 MW capacity or higher in multiples of 10 MW. A single bidder can bid for a minimum of 50 MW or the entire 300 MW.

Launched on January 24, 2022, bids in response to this call will be accepted till March 4, 2022. Details are available on NTPC’s tender website.

Earlier this year, NTPC REL launched a tender for BOS package with land for up to 1 GW solar power capacity (see India: BOS Tender For 1 GW Solar Capacity).

Tender for 3,000 MWh/500 MW energy storage capacity

Separately, NTPC REL has also launched a call to seek developers for ISTS connected energy storage solutions of 3,000 MWh with 500 MW (minimum) capacity. It can be established anywhere in India that the company can avail to meet its round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy needs, complementing with wind or solar generation profile under service model.

It plans to enter into energy storage service agreement on annual fixed charge basis with selected bidders for 25 years. “The power generated by any of the RE projects of NTPC REL shall be used for the charging of the ESS project and NTPC REL shall utilize above energy storage facility, on a “On-Demand” basis, suited to its requirements during the peak and off-peak hours to meets its RE-RTC power requirement,” reads the tender document.

Last date to submit bids for the tender is March 3, 2022, according to the tender call.
