Oil India Limited plans to develop 100 MW AC and above of grid-connected solar projects, including ground-mounted, floating, canal-top, and solar-plus-storage systems
It seeks to empanel EPC contractors for 2 years to help execute projects that OIL or its green energy arm, OGEL, wins through competitive tenders
EPCs will handle end-to-end work, including design, procurement, construction, grid connectivity, and long-term operation and maintenance
Oil India Limited (OIL), the state-owned crude oil and natural gas company, has opened an expression of interest (EOI) round to enlist EPC contractors for 100 MW AC and above grid-connected solar PV projects, anywhere in India.
OIL plans to participate in competitive tenders issued by various central and state agencies either by itself or through its green energy arm, OIL Green Energy Ltd. (OGEL). EPC vendors selected through this EOI will execute the project wins. The latter will be enlisted for 2 years.
This capacity can be installed as ground-mounted PV plants, floating/reservoir/canal-top PV projects, or solar PV plants integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS) as required by OIL or OGEL.
The broad scope of work for the selected vendor will include design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, as well as comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of the projects.
The EPC will need to procure PV modules from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) enlisted in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). It should also be able to procure other equipment, including inverters and balance of system (BOS), from multiple OEMs, as required.
They should also have the expertise to construct a power evacuation system and integration to, and with, the designated substation, as approved by relevant authorities.
In case a tender win requires OIL/OGEL to arrange land for the solar projects, the EPC vendor may need to manage the same.
OIL launched the call under EOI No: OIL/C&P-CORP/EOI/03/2026 on February 4, 2026. Interested bidders can submit their applications latest by February 15, 2026.
According to its website, OIL’s total installed renewable energy capacity of 188.1 MW includes 174.1 MW of wind and 14 MW of solar projects. While the upstream oil and gas sector remains its core focus, OIL says it is strategically pivoting towards sustainable energy practices and investing in renewable energy projects, in line with global sustainability trends and to support India’s commitment to net-zero by 2070 (see India Goes For Net Zero By 2070).
