Key Takeaways
  • Oman plans to develop 4 solar IPPs with a capacity of 1 GW each, says Nama PWP

  • The solar projects are targeted to begin commercial operations by Q2 2030

  • Nama PWP is seeking technical consultants to support project development and tendering process

Oman’s Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) has launched a tender for technical consultancy services to support the development of 4 new utility-scale solar projects.

The projects will have a combined capacity of 4 GW. Each solar independent power producer (IPP) project is planned with a capacity of 1 GW. It will be connected to Oman's Main Interconnected System (MIS).

Nama PWP says the targeted scheduled commercial operation date of these facilities is Q2 2030. Recently, Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) said it is preparing the grid to accommodate 4 utility-scale solar projects by 2030 (see Oman To Install Over 5 GW Solar PV Capacity By 2030).

The consultancy tender covers technical support for project development and advice on the competitive tendering process.

Eligible bidders are required to provide a tender bond of at least 1% of the tender value. The bond must remain valid for 120 days from the submission deadline, according to the call.

The tender, numbered OPWP/2026/032, is available for purchase from July 12 to July 22, 2026, on Nama PWP’s tender website. Interested bidders must submit their proposals by August 26, 2026.

The planned projects are part of Oman’s efforts to diversify its power generation fuel mix through greater use of clean energy, said Nama PWP.
