Menlo Electric from Poland, a European solar module distributor to installers, has launched a tender to secure a supply of 240 MW from PV manufacturers with 50% of these comprising monofacial black frame models within a power range of 410 W to 470 W.
The bid is open to manufacturers for solar panels within the range of 395 W to 620 W, to be used to supplement already contracted deliveries for H1/2023.
"Suppliers are asked to quote not only deliveries to Rotterdam, but also Gdańsk in Poland as well as prices without shipping (i.e. FOB incoterms)," shared Menlo's Marketing Manager Krystyna Kacperska. "Depending on the market situation, we may opt to organize transportation independently to e.g. Pireus in Greece or Constanta in Romania." The company distributes the modules using 7 major transport hubs across Europe.
The company says it is an official European Union (EU) distributor of modules and inverters of JA Solar, Sungrow, SolarEdge and FoxESS. Menlo's Head of Procurement and Trading Marcin Zienkiewicz added that the company is not looking to replace its current business partnerships, but will supplement its current portfolio and ensure stable supplies for its customers.
Interested companies will be able to submit their bids till November 20, 2022, via email to procurement@menloelectric.com. Further details will be available with Menlo Electric on its website.
The company had previously launched a similar call for 250 MW solar modules for European projects a year back in October 2021 (see 250 MW Solar Module Tender For Europe).
Demand for solar power is increasing by the day in Europe thanks to its energy crisis situation and to meet decarbonization goals. It does not have enough manufacturing capacity to meet these goals while the European Commission (EC) is already mulling an import ban on everything that's tainted with human rights violation concerns without pointing fingers anywhere. Nonetheless, European PV companies are increasingly seeking inverters, cells and modules abroad to satisfy their quickly growing needs. Within the first 8 months of 2022, over 60 GW Chinese modules having been shipped to Europe, according to market research firm Gessey (see Massive Volumes Of Chinese Modules Entering Europe).
