UNDP Mozambique has issued a tender for solar PV installations for 17 locations in the country
These 17 turnkey installations will be implemented for 17 health care facilities that currently depend on the national grid
The aim is for these facilities to secure reliable and affordable green energy
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Mozambique has opened a competitive bidding process to implement solar PV installations for 17 health care facilities in the African nation. This forms phase 1 of the project, it added.
Distributed across the country, these 17 sites are divided in 3 following lots:
Lot 1: CS Homoine, CS Magude, CS de Malehice, CS Funhalouro, CS Chicualacuala, CS Guijá
Lot 2: CS Nhacolo, CS Chitobe, CS Chemba-Sede, CS Chifunde, CS Inhaminga, HD Gilé
Lot 3: CS Metangula, CS Massangulo, CS Muatide, CS Nangade, HD Mandimba
Currently, these health care facilities depend on grid-supplied electricity. Some of them also use generators for backup power supply.
“The primary goal of the smart solar hybrid PV systems is to provide reliable power supply and affordable green energy solutions tailored to the specific needs of 17 health facilities as well as smart integrated services like security and adaptability,” reads the tender call.
Launched in cooperation with the UNDP Information & Technology Management (ITM) Green Energy Team, the call specifies that the team is looking for high-quality turnkey solutions ‘as these will serve as showcases both nationally and internationally.’
The UNDP issued the call on November 7, 2024 for which December 13, 2024 is the last date of submissions.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Mozambique’s total installed renewable energy capacity at the end of 2023 reached 2.369 GW, out of which solar PV accounted for 103 MW.
