- Uganda’s Water & Environment Ministry is seeking bidders for 40 solar PV energy packages for water supply schemes
- These need to be installed and commissioned in the form of 4 lots of 10 PV packages each
- Part of the proceeds received for the EASP project from the World Bank will be used to finance the projects
The Ministry of Water and Environment in Uganda has launched a competitive bidding process for 40 solar PV energy packages for water supply schemes, to be installed in 4 lots of 10 each.
Broad scope of work for the projects involves supply, installation and commissioning of the projects in the following regions:
- Lot 1 in Kiwenda, Kikyusa, Bamunanika, Banda, Ssekanyonyi, Mayanga, Kayunga, Buyende-2, Kagulu and Kasambira
- Lot 2 in Kyamukonda, Biiso, Ulepi, Inde, Kuru, Lefori, Ayiilo, Adilang, Pallabek- Kal and Olilim
- Lot 3 in Kasanje, Kyamulibwa, Kakyanga, Nabigasa- Lyabugumu, Ntungu, Isingiro TC, Rubaya, Kabura, Katuna, and Nyakashaka- Rubingo, and
- Lot 4 in Kyanvuma, Kyere, Kamod, Mkongoro, Abim-I, Losilang-1, Karenga, Iriri, Alakas and Nakapiripirit.
The ministry plans to use proceeds from the financing it has received from the World Bank towards the cost of the Electricity Access Scale-Up Project (EASP) to pay for works required under the tender. The World Bank-backed initiative aims to expand electricity access for households, refugee and host communities, industrial parks, commercial enterprises and public institutions.
Launched on December 1, 2023, interested companies can send in their bids to the tender by January 17, 2024. Details are available on the ministry’s website.
