- Slovakia has announced a tender to award a total of 30 MW capacity to renewable energy technologies
- Solar and wind power are among the participating technologies for this tender
- Bids for solar and wind technologies have been capped at €84.98 per MWh, while for other technologies it is €106.80 per MWh
The Ministry of Economy of the Slovakian Republic (MHSR) has launched a renewable energy auction offering a total capacity of 30 MW. The technology-neutral auction is open to solar, wind, hydro, biomass, biogas, landfill gas, geothermal and gas from sewage treatment plants.
Interested bidders for wind and solar power plants can bid for a maximum of €84.98 ($92.57) per MWh. For other participating technologies, the ceiling tariff is €106.80 ($116.34) per MWh.
Solar power projects can be developed in the range of 100 kW to 2 MW; for other technologies, the power range allowed is between 500 kW to 10 MW, as per tender documents.
Solar power projects selected under the auction will need to be grid connected within 21 months.
A government tender completed late last year chose Slovakian energy company Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) as the sole buyer of all renewable energy to be allocated in the country (see SPP To Be Sole Buyer Of RE In Slovakia Auctions).
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, till 2018 Slovakia had a total renewable energy capacity of 2,388 MW including 531 MW of solar.
