Solis’ global cumulative inverter shipments breach 100G W in H1 2024

Solar PV inverter manufacturer Ginlong Technologies (Solis) has announced that its cumulative global shipments reached 100 GW. The company says this achievement is a reflection of its commitment to innovation, quality, and string technology. The milestone supports residential and commercial clean energy goals. The company says it continues to expand globally across the residential, storage, commercial, and utility sectors.

Last month, Solis announced that it was rated at the top of Wood Mackenzie’s 2024 Global Solar Photovoltaic Inverter and Module-Level Power Electronics Market Share Report (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

LONGi forms 3-company JV for HBC Solar Cell Manufacturing

Solar cell manufacturer Golden Solar New Energy has announced that its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Quanzhou Golden Solar, has entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with LONGi and heterojunction (HJT) cell manufacturer JP Solar. The new company formed through this JV, Jinlong (Xi'an) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., will produce HBC (Back-Contact Crystalline Silicon Heterojunction) solar cells.

The JV has a registered capital of RMB 659 million ($91.5 million). JP Solar, Golden Solar, and LONGi hold 52.51%, 27.31%, and 20.18% equity stakes, respectively. The new JV will upgrade 4 PERC production lines at LONGi's Xi'an Aerospace Industrial Base to high-efficiency HBC cell production lines. The joint venture plans to sell most of its HBC solar cells to LONGi or its affiliated companies for use in solar modules.

LONGi Green Energy recently published a research paper in the scientific journal Nature detailing how it experimentally exceeded the Shockley-Queisser (S-Q) theoretical limit for single-junction cell efficiency (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
