Canadian solar plant commissioned: Independent power producer (IPP) from the US, Silicon Ranch has energized the ‘1st’ utility-scale solar project in Alberta’s industrial heartland, near Edmonton in Canada. The 58 MW AC Scotford Solar Farm is the largest behind-the-meter solar project in Canada, according to Silicon Ranch. It will support Shell’s Energy and Chemical Park in Scotford with enough renewable energy to power close to 20% of the refinery’s energy needs for the next 25 years, and provide 100% of its electricity needs at peak capacity. This is also Silicon Ranch’s 1st international solar project which it will own, operate and maintain throughout its lifecycle.  

200 MW solar plant in Indiana: US utility NiSource’s subsidiary Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) has completed the 200 MW Cavalry Solar Project. The 3rd solar project in its generating mix, Cavalry Solar is accompanied by an additional 45 MW of battery storage technology. The project was built by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, Cavalry Energy Center in White County, Indiana.

Financing for 42 MW in Missouri: St. Louis, US-based Birch Creek Energy, LLC has achieved financial close for its 42 MW DC utility scale solar project in Missouri. The Altona Solar Project in Audrain County is now fully operational. It is located on 208 acres of land and connects to Ameren Missouri. Tax equity came from Celtic Bank, while permanent debt was provided by West Town Bank & Trust.
