PERC’s share declined steadily over the 2-year period, falling from 44% at the beginning of 2024 to 29% by December 2025
Product delistings accelerated in H2 2025, reducing the number of listed PERC modules from 17 in July to 13 by year-end
Despite starting 2025 as the largest technology by product count, PERC continued to lose representation
The TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES analysis report shows that PERC technology has seen a continued reduction in representation over the past 2 years. This article reviews how PERC’s product count and share changed in the TOP SOLAR MODULES list as manufacturers phased out legacy PERC modules. During H2 2025, the contraction of the PERC segment accelerated further, reinforcing the long-term downward trend observed over the past several reporting periods. In July 2025, the number of listed PERC products declined from 18 to 17, following the delisting of EGING PV’s PERC module, reducing the segment’s share from 35% to 34%. These figures remained unchanged till August (see TOPCon: A Dominant Technology In TOP SOLAR MODULES).
In September 2025, no additional PERC products were delisted. However, the segment’s share declined further to 33%, reflecting an increase in the overall number of listed modules. A more structural reduction occurred in October, when JA Solar’s PERC module was removed, lowering the product count to 16, while the share remained stable at 33%.
The downward trend continued in November 2025, with the delisting of DAS Solar’s PERC module, reducing the number of products to 15 and the share to 32%. The most pronounced contraction occurred in December, with the removal of 2 additional PERC modules, one each from Canadian Solar and GCL SI. As a result, the year ended with 13 PERC products, representing a 29% share (see Product Shares Of Different Cell Technologies).
In the first half of 2025, the number of PERC products dropped from 20 in December 2024 to 18 in January and remained unchanged until June. This reduction led to a drop in share from 38% to 36% in January. The decline was due to the removal of long-standing PERC modules from Risen and Akcome. While there were no changes in the PERC segment until May, its share dropped to 35% in June, even as the product count remained at 18. Despite remaining the single largest technology by absolute product count at the beginning of 2025, PERC continued to lose ground steadily, both in terms of representation and relative importance, and its relative influence in the TOP SOLAR MODULES listing continues to wane (see HJT Technology Share In TOP SOLAR MODULES).
The year 2024 began with 24 PERC products, corresponding to a 44% share – unchanged from the previous month. However, this dropped by 1% in February due to an increase in the total number of listed products. In March, Kalyon’s module was added to the list, temporarily pushing the share back up to 44%. The second half of 2024, however, witnessed a steady decline in PERC product numbers, falling from 25 to 20. This began with the delisting of Kalyon’s PERC module – just 4 months after its inclusion. Subsequent removals followed: Tongwei Solar in September, Astronergy and Talesun in October, and JinkoSolar in December – all due to these companies phasing out their PERC product lines. As a result, PERC’s share dropped significantly to 38% by December 2024.
