ACWA Power has expanded its solar PV operational capacity by 2.79 GW
This includes project capacities commissioned in Hail, Qassim, and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia
SPPC has signed offtake agreements for all 3 facilities, all of which ACWA Power owns a 50.1% stake in
Saudi Arabian energy group ACWA Power has announced commercial operations of close to 3 GW solar PV capacity in Saudi Arabia at 3 utility-scale project sites.
Among these is the initial commercial operation certificate that Ishaa Renewable Energy Company, its project company, received for the 1.425 GW Al Kahfah Solar PV Project in the Hail region.
It has also brought online 1 GW out of the 2 GW ArRass 2 Solar Power Plant in the Qassim region through Nawwar Renewable Energy Company. With commercial operations starting for 365.7 MW, its SAAD 2 PV Project in Riyadh is now operating at full capacity of 1.125 GW.
ACWA Power says it holds a 50.1% stake in each of the 3 independent power producer (IPP) projects that it developed in collaboration with the Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel).
All these 3 projects represent a combined value of SAR 12.2 billion and will generate enough clean power for close to 750,000 households. Saudi Arabia Power Procurement Company (SPPC) signed offtake agreements for all these facilities in May 2023 (see PPAs For Several GWs Solar In Saudi Arabia).
In July 2025, ACWA Power signed 7 new PPAs for 15 GW renewable energy capacity with the SPPC for 5 solar PV and 2 wind power facilities worth over SAR 31 billion (see SPPC Inks 15 GW Renewable Energy Deals In Saudi Arabia).
