Waaree Power has added a 1.1 GW inverter line, expanding its total annual capacity from 3.05 GW to 4.15 GW
The manufacturer says its inverter factory hosts advanced manufacturing technology with scalability across different inverter technologies
It says local inverter manufacturing can improve data security, reduce dependence on overseas suppliers and support faster supply
Waaree Power Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has commissioned a new solar inverter manufacturing line with an installed capacity of 1.10 GW.
The new line at its Sarodhi factory in Gujarat’s Valsad region expands its aggregate annual installed solar inverter manufacturing capacity from 3.05 GW to 4.15 GW. The factory hosts an advanced manufacturing line that can scale across different inverter technologies, according to the manufacturer.
Waaree Power originally planned to achieve 4 GW inverter plant capacity by FY27, with close to INR 180 crore in CapEx. The company had commissioned 3.05 GW under Phase I in December 2025, comprising two dedicated lines with an annual capacity of 1.525 GW each. Phase II of its plan involved adding another 1 GW by FY27.
Waaree said the new inverter plant will use its retail network to offer one-stop solar solutions. The company expects India’s solar inverter market, worth about $1 billion in 2025, to grow by around 6% annually over the next 10 years. Waaree said India could become a reliable alternative to China for US and European buyers due to geopolitical stability and free-market compliance, while energy security and data localization support domestic manufacturing.
On the company’s Q1 FY27 earnings call on July 30, 2026, Varun Goenka, Waaree Energies Limited President, Growth and Strategy, said, “In fact, in inverter, there has been a recent policy where the data that was flowing to countries which share border with India, now is getting restricted.” He stated that the company’s domestic manufacturing strategy is driven by three factors: manufacturing independence, data security, and supply-chain independence.
“You do not want to be completely dependent on time lags and supply chain dependence on foreign countries. You want to have just-in-time supply chain here,” added Goenka.
Recently, the company expanded into specialty gases business through its wholly-owned subsidiary Waaree Clean Energy Services, to serve India’s semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers (see Waaree Expands Into Specialty Gases; Plans Indosolar Merger).
TaiyangNews is set to host its 3rd Solar Technology Conference.India 2027 (STC.I 2027) at New Delhi on January 20 and 21, which will bring together leading solar manufacturers, upstream technology suppliers, and quality experts under one roof. Registrations for this in-person event will open soon.
