JinkoSolar poised to regain No. 1 spot: According to a notable Chinese local media publication, solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar is about to regain the top spot in the industry for 2023. The company says that it shipped a total of 75 GW throughout 2023, which puts it at the forefront of total industry shipments for the year. It would be the 5th time that the company has topped the PV industry if it manages to gain the top spot for 2023.

JinkoSolar recently signed a TOPCon patent deal with a global top 10 customer, touted as the 1st patent licensing deal for the PV industry in China (see China Solar PV News Snippets). Dany Qian, VP of JinkoSolar, said “JinkoSolar is at the forefront of innovation to ensure the solutions help customers deliver full-scenario generation capabilities.”

Separately, the company recently also announced that it had received approval from the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission to build a new 4 GW cell and 3 GW solar module production line in Vietnam (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Sunwell New Energy to build R&D and production HQ in Wuzhong: Sunwell New Energy Equipment has announced its plans to acquire 43.2 acres of land for Phase I of its R&D and production headquarters. The HQ, which will come up in the Wuzhong Economic Development Zone, will involve an investment of around RMB 2 billion ($278.7 million). Once fully up and running, it is expected to generate RMB 1.4 billion ($195.1 million) in annual revenues for the company.

Sunwell recently announced that it had won the bid for a GW-level heterojunction copper interconnect production line from a leading industry customer (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

RenShine’s 150 MW perovskite PV module fab online: Perovskite solar cell developer RenShine Solar has announced that its 150 MW perovskite photovoltaic module factory has been put into production. The construction of the facility located in Changshu started in April 2023. The company says that the facility has completely been designed in-house and will serve as the basis for a GW-level production line in the future.

CECEP Solar Energy forecasts up to 19% increase in net profit for FY2023: China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group’s holding subsidiary CECEP Solar Energy has released its 2023 performance forecast. The company expects its net profit to range between RMB 1.50 billion and 1.65 billion, a YoY increase of 8.18%-19.00%. It attributes the positive performance to the increased installed capacity of its power stations, better operation and maintenance, and higher power generation. It also cites decreased expenses through the issuance of low-cost green corporate bonds and lowering interest rates.
